Product Description

2015 Bulang "Golden Brick" Ripe Pu-erh - 9-Year Aged Smooth Treasure

Experience the mellow richness of this exceptional 2015 vintage ripe pu-erh brick (250g) crafted from Bulang (布朗, Brown Mountain) tea-area leaves, fermented and pressed into a classic "golden brick" form. After 9 years of careful aging, this tea has developed a mellow, well-rounded character with deep, earthy aroma and smooth, clean sweetness that exemplifies the finest qualities of aged ripe pu-erh.

Bulang Mountain - The Powerful Foundation:

Bulang Mountain (布朗山, Bulang Shan) is one of the most important and prestigious tea regions in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna. As mentioned in our other Bulang products, this region is home to some of the oldest tea trees in Yunnan and is particularly famous for being the location of the legendary Lao Banzhang village. The Bulang ethnic minority people have cultivated and protected these tea forests for over 1,000 years.

While Bulang is most renowned for its powerful raw pu-erh, the region's material also creates exceptional ripe pu-erh. The inherent strength and depth of Bulang leaves provide an excellent foundation for fermentation - even after the fermentation process, teas made from Bulang material retain substantial body, rich flavor, and excellent aging potential that distinguish them from ordinary ripe pu-erh.

The "Golden Brick" Format - Traditional & Practical:

This tea is pressed into the classic "golden brick" (金砖, Jin Zhuan) format, a traditional shape that has been used for ripe pu-erh for decades. The 250-gram brick size is practical and economical - smaller than the standard 357g cake but substantial enough for regular enjoyment. The brick format is compact, easy to store, and the tight compression promotes even aging. The "golden" designation refers to both the brick's appearance and the golden-red color of the aged liquor.

Brick tea has a long history in Chinese tea culture, originally developed for easy transport along ancient tea routes. Today, the format remains popular for its convenience and excellent aging characteristics.

9 Years of Aging - Mellow Perfection:

After 9 years of post-fermentation aging since 2015, this brick has reached a beautiful stage of maturity. The aging process has smoothed any rough edges from fermentation, developed deeper complexity, and created the mellow, well-rounded character that makes aged ripe pu-erh so treasured. The tea is at an excellent drinking window now while retaining potential for further aging.

Tasting Experience:

This 2015 Bulang golden brick delivers a profoundly satisfying drinking experience. The tea brews a clear, rich red liquor with beautiful depth and clarity - a sign of quality fermentation and proper aging. The aroma is deep and inviting, filled with aged earth, dried date, and light woody notes that evoke the warmth of a well-aged cellar. The taste is smooth and sweet, with the clean, pure character that comes from Bulang material and careful aging. The tea feels substantial yet gentle - perfect for daily enjoyment or as a comforting evening drink. The texture is thick, silky, and coating, creating a luxurious mouthfeel that enhances the overall experience. The finish offers lingering warmth and subtle sweetness that continues long after each sip.
